June Willson Read, Ph.D. has had a number of publications, including both adult and children's stories, fiction and nonfiction. She has written two Young Adult books and her children's stories have appeared in several publications, including two WGOT anthologies, No GrownUps Allowed and Candle in the Attic, and most recently in Artisans of the Triad. She teaches adult classes on writing children's stories and on creative nonfiction at Guilford Technical Community College, where she also teaches Creative Nonfiction. She is active in the Writers' Group of the Triad, Greensboro, NC where she is past president, and co-facilitator for the Children's Literature Writers and facilitator for the Nonfiction group. She has been writing the WGOT newsletter since 1992.

Mary Webb placed first in the nonfiction category of the Burlington Writers Club Awards (2002) and second place in the Children's Poetry category (2003). She has a story and a poem published in the children's anthology, Candle in the Attic. She has had a Christmas story published in "Inside J.P.F." magazine and in "Artisans of the Triad" and a short story published in the anthology, Wordworks. She received a B.A. in accounting and business management from Lawrence Technical University in Southfield, MI. Mary and her husband are natives of Detroit and they now live in Reidsville, NC. She gets story inspirations from their ten children and more than 30 grandchildren.

Polly Atkins hails from the mountains of North Carolina and often flavors her stories with mountain dialect and folklore. A member of the Children's Lit genre at WGOT, she has contributed to two children's anthologies, "No Grownups Allowed" and "Candle in the Attic." There is mountain magic in the way she tells her stories, so she recently cut a CD titled "The Likes of Rufus Lee" and presented it to a local station in hopes of having it aired on public radio. In the near future, she plans to finish a collection of "hill women" short stories which might become her first novel. Along with writing psychological thrillers and children's short stories, Polly loves observing people to get ideas for her writing.
