"It's easier not to write than to write. Except if you are a writer. Then you have no choice."

- Elie Wiesel (Nobel Prize-winner)

The Writers' Group of the Triad is a not-for-profit organization of writers for writers. Our mission is to provide a supportive and creative atmosphere in which all levels of writers can write and revise with the help and advice of others. Our facilitators are professionals in every way and enjoy helping other writers with sense of story, organization, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure problems. If we are successful as a group, then we will turn wannabee writers into magazine article writers and published authors. We are dedicated to helping our members improve their writing skills through peer review and the sharing of experiences at regular monthly meetings of subgroups.

Subgroups are divided by genre. By clicking on anything underlined in the left column or at the bottom of this page you can get additional information on that subject. Example: by clicking on "Subgroups/Genres" button above, left, you will see a listing of our genres, when they meet and how to contact the facilitators in order to join a group. Some of our writers are members of three different subgroups, all for the same annual dues. You may attend as many subgroups as you have the interest and time to attend.

By clicking on the Booksignings/Events button above left, you will see where and when authors will be appearing this month to discuss and sign their new books.

By clicking on the Links/Resources button above left, you can enter the writer's world without leaving your computer. If you do nothing else as a new writer, spend some time exploring "Links/Resources."

By clicking on Our Authors/Writers at the bottom of this page, you will get thumbnail bios about a small portion of our authors, some of our fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, playwrights, mystery writers, songwriters and children's book writers. Just surf around the articles and documents below. You will find more than three dozen additional categories to explore, including Writing Tips.

Where do we meet? Half of our groups meet at a central location, our headquarters at historic Sternberger Artists Center, 712 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC. There is free parking in the lot behind the building. The WGOT Writers' Center is on the main floor, with an entrance on the far left (south side) of the building as you face the building from the rear free parking area.

Who can join? WGOT membership is open to anyone, locally, nationally, or internationally who wants to improve English writing skills. Members who live outside North Carolina or in a foreign country can still be a member and receive the WGOT monthly newsletter that provides much helpful information to the writer, such as forthcoming contests and competitions for their own specific genre.

Many of our members have been widely published, but we welcome beginning writers also, those who are not quite sure of the validity of their words or the merit of the things they wish to say. As a member, we can help the new writer find her/his "voice," and better understand the mysterious adventure called publishing.

Our mailing address is: 4920 Jessup Grove Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

Our advice to aspiring authors is to write, write, write! Then share with other writers your work in progress by joining one of our support groups where sharing is the order of the day. Writing is a lonely business, but writers need to connect.

Dues: Visitors are invited to attend a couple of subgroup meetings at no charge. Annual dues are $30; Outstate/International $20; Students $15. To join WGOT, click on Become a Member button above left, or at the bottom of this page and follow the directions. Once a member, you will receive our monthly newsletters and can attend as many subgroup meetings as you have time for. For more specific information about WGOT, write to us at our PO Box mailing address or call (336) 665-9494.

Webmaster e-mail: As Webmaster for WGOT, I am interested in members' literary publishings, thumbnail bios, curriculum vitaes, and 4x6 color photos (Jpeg) -- as well as constructive criticism on the web site. You can e-mail me at mbull68516@aol.com. Please put "WGOT" as part of your subject box and it will always catch my eye. -- Bob Webb
